Director
Brazil
Brazil was the first official trip of
the Swiss Learning delegation from 20th to 27th September
2007.

Mr. Beat Sommer, Mr. Claude Crottaz, Mr. Christophe
X. Clivaz,
Mrs. Bärfuss, Mr. Francis Man, Ms. Patricia Gomes,
Mr. Henri Behar,
Ambassador Rudolf Bärfuss, Mr. Dorival Pinotti
Being the largest country in South America,
with a constant developing economy, Brazil is one of
the largest Swiss FDP (Financial Direct Investment)
abroad. Recent economic agreements signed between the
two countries makes Brazil an excellent partner for
Swiss education.
The principal objectives of this trip
were to present the Swiss Learning concept as well as
the excellence of Swiss education to our local partners.
We concentrated on 4 main cities:
- Brazilia
- Sao Paulo
- Rio de Janeiro
- Belo Horizonte
The highlight of our trip was the presentation
made by our schools in the gardens of the Swiss Embassy
in Brazilia.
The interest shown by the Brazilian public
and our partners confirms that our country needs a strong
promotional structure for education.
First Swiss Pavilion at the China
Expo
For the first time since the creation
of China Expo7 years ago, a Swiss Pavilion was present
in Beijing.

The Swiss Pavilion was coordinated by
the Swiss embassy in Beijing, and presented both public
and private institutions and was easily on par with
the European Union, with their booth "Discover Europe!"
"Education for Excellence," or the United Kingdom with
"Education UK" who have been present for years.
The event is officially approved by the
Ministry of Education and sponsored by the China Education
Association for International Exchange. More than 480
exhibitors from 25 countries and regions registered
at the fairs.
Swiss Learning presence at the
ICEF - Workshop in Beijing
While China's importance in the international
education market as the major source of international
students has been widely reported, its position as an
educational destination in its own right is steadily
increasing.

Swiss delegation at the ICEF workshop
Reflecting the unique conditions of the
rapidly evolving Chinese market, the ICEF CHINA WORKSHOP
provides value to:
- International education providers wishing to meet
with quality agents from China, all around Asia as
well as from the rest of the world.
- Chinese education providers wishing to meet with
quality international education agents
In addition to one-to-one appointments
for agents and providers, the programme promotes links
between Chinese and international education providers,
in recognition of the many opportunities available in
China for exchange programmes, twinning arrangements
and other partnerships. It provides an ideal forum for
networking between agents and providers that can be
further extended through direct promotion to prospective
Chinese students.
