While nestled high in the Swiss Alps, far from large cities, Aiglon\u2019s approach to health care ensures that every student has immediate access to expert medical support, whether for everyday concerns or urgent situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the heart of this system is a dedicated team of eight experienced nurses, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. \u201cWe work shift patterns,\u201d explains Hannah Ferguson, Associate Director of Health Care Services. \u201cDuring the day, there are typically three nurses on duty, and at night, one nurse is on call for additional expertise, should the houseparents require this support.\u201d This round-the-clock presence provides constant reassurance for students, staff, and parents alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Immediate &amp; Professional Care<\/strong><br>The school\u2019s health centre, a welcoming chalet at the base of campus, is equipped to manage a wide range of medical needs. \u201cFor many situations, students can be cared for on-site,\u201d says Remi Gravier, Associate Director of Nursing. The centre includes dedicated bedrooms, ensuring that students needing close monitoring\u2014such as one recent student requiring a nebuliser treatment for bronchitis\u2014receive the care they need without having to leave campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more complex cases, Aiglon has access to two nearby doctors offices, both within walking distance, offering advanced diagnostics such as X-rays. In emergencies, the response is swift and coordinated. The regular ski station infrastructure also supports the school, especially since air ambulance helicopters are the most effective means of transport. \u201cRecently, when a student had a ski accident, a helicopter was called directly to the slopes to take them directly to hospital,\u201d recalls Mr Gravier. With the H\u00f4pital Riviera-Chablais (HRC) just 25 minutes away, more urgent medical care is always within reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Beyond Emergency Care: A Holistic Approach<\/strong><br>Healthcare at Aiglon extends far beyond treating injuries and illnesses. Preventative care is a key priority, with dedicated nurses overseeing vaccination programmes, expedition first-aid preparation, and general health checks. \u201cOne nurse is responsible for ensuring all our first aid kits are fully equipped for expeditions,\u201d says Ms Ferguson, highlighting the proactive approach to student safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The school\u2019s commitment to wellbeing also embraces mental health, nutrition, and personal development. The in-house team includes specialists in mental health support, and when additional expertise is needed, Aiglon partners with trusted professionals\u2014from mindfulness practitioners to art therapists and nutritionists.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A Culture of Care<\/strong><br>More than just a medical service, Aiglon\u2019s health provision is an integral part of its ethos: a school where students can push their limits, knowing they are supported every step of the way.
