φlo, A Year On

Since 1880, Le Rosey has held one motto: Actis Virtus, values revealed through action. An idea that continues to shape how Roséens learn, and how they turn what they learn into something that matters.

Perhaps its oldest expression is the school’s own rhythm. Twice a year, Roséens move from Lake Geneva to the mountains of Gstaad, learning to rebuild their routines somewhere new and begin again.

Its newest expression is φlo, a purpose-built home for innovation, entrepreneurship and cross-disciplinary learning. A year after opening, the Technovation lab has outgrown its original space, expanding from 40 to 300 square metres. The second MITdesignX cohort is soon arriving, 15 early-stage ventures working alongside Roséen interns. And the whole school has moved in: the pitch room now doubles as an exhibition space, and exam revision has quietly claimed the calm rooms built for venture work. The important problems of the next decades will not respect subject boundaries, and neither, it turns out, does φlo.

In all of this, Roséens are asked not only what they know, but what they can do with it, who it might serve and what responsibility comes with putting an idea into the world. That world is changing faster than any curriculum. Rather than predicting it, we prepare Roséens to be at ease inside change itself.
